OK.... so in most of the world it's May 29th now. Many of you were saying that Beta 5 would expire today...... anyone have the pink screen yet?

Discuss!

Based on what? Is it written in the firmware to die today? Or just a bunch of ignorant fanboys speculating because they think they understand Apple or something?

I have no idea that it dies today....that's what I was wondering. I want to know what the fanboys say now.

I'm pretty sure Apple can change the date when it expires. Most of us think its two weeks, but somehow, someway, Apple can make it three, four, five week if they wanted. I doubt Apple would allow all the Beta 5 testers to have brick iPhones.

My guess (follow me here): the next release of beta 6 will be on June 9th. I read in the forums here that beta 5 was to expire on June 19th. It got me thinking. Every other beta has expired 10 days after the new release (e.g. Beta 3 expired 10 days after beta 4 was released, giving developers ample time to update without PSOD). Now, why do I think June 9th? That would be the day after the WWDC keynote speech where all the surprises are to be revealed. So if Apple has any major tricks up their sleeves, releasing beta 6 the day after the keynote would allow them to keep their secrets under wraps till then. Just a thought...

That actually makes sense.

It happened with 2.0 betas.

When i restarted my phone now, it just showed the apple for a long time, så i did a reset and then it showed the pink screen for about 1 second, then it came on. early signs of expiration? I have'nt tried to restarted it again after that

Once - and Apple worked on it as fast as possible to get a release out because they made a mistake.

That was it activating with the network. Don't worry.

bet5

Hey guys...

I did find the same information that beta 5 will expire on 19th of June and if our phones still working than that might be true.

+1

They can then put the iTunes iPhone icon into the beta 6 then :D

so then..... here we are on May 29th..... no expiration? Who's calling it? Who's gonna go give the fan boys a swirly?

incoming swirly :)

Who really cares anyway - I can live without 3.0 for a few if I have to roll back to 2.2.1 - I will sure miss Copy and Paste - but I will survive for the day :)

WTF is your problem? It's as if you're asking for an argument to start.

From what I've read, the beta isn't set to expire until the first week in June. Set your calendar to June 6th and see what happens if you're really interested in finding out.

Crap, so I woke up this morning and half groggy I was trying to switch my wifi back on (comcast had cut out last night so I disabled it) and inadvertently hit the flight mode on button. Once I did, my b5 phone went into the itunes/emergency purple screen and itunes is saying my software expired. WTH?

Hahahahahaha. Anyone else wanna try this?

no problems with my beta5 today. someone set there phone to june 9th and it still hadn't expired, so I'm not worried about it just yet. Who thinks 3.0 will be released to the public after WWDC?
