Several people have flashed GF3 VisionTek cards and Asus cards.

I like my imac for gaming

That is alot I use it for. So far I have not yet installed Os X but I use it for the internet (this site) and gaming. D2 and Sc are my favorite games. Sure the Gaming consels don't have D2 or Quakes FPS but, I like them sure there pritty expensive and cost more for the game but they still... Oh n/m I just proved myself wrong. Damn I really want to get across that they are still usefull.
By the way anybody want a N64 ? Come on you do want it.

actually, easily. The ps2 is a git to programme for, which tends to make for certain games having a half finished feel to them. Secondly, I personally prefer a mouse k/b type interface. Note, i said I am an FPSer. I am also very choosy about where and on what i spend my money gaming wise. I feel that teh porice of ps2 games is too much for me to 'experiment ' with a game. Lots of games doesnt always equal good - quality is what counts.

That is probably the most childish thing ive ever heard. Firstly the PS2 graphically eats through latest PCs for gaming and I doubt Gran Tourismo 3 can be displayed as well on a mac. Secondly, availability of PS2 games has already exceeded that of macs. Just wait a year and well half hundred fold more.

So AS I SAID before, you want to GAME, get a console.

I 'game'. I 'game' a lot. I have never 'gamed' on a console. Most people I know do not posses a console. so that point is blatently untrue. id be prepared to put my neck out and say casual gamers are more likely to play console games, where as us addicts are more likely to be winning prize money on a pc.

Ofcourse using games as benchmarks is good if you want to see where the power of the mac wears out. But where pure gaming is concerned, if Quake 3 is the highlight of mac gaming, then its got a long way to go. I mean, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU, WHAT OTHER GAMES THAN QUAKE 3, RUNE, AND UT can you think of?

(all are the same boring genre) Don't say Driver cause that is like 4 years old. DOnt say Deus Ex cause the graphics are pathetic in comparison to upcoming games like Metal Gear Solid for PS2.

oh yeah and doom 3 will o\/\/N you fewl! but it aint out now, so were not using possibles in an arguement. hey - metal gear solid looks kewl. but the reason its taken so long? teh ps2 APIs suck. 1 good game out of a bucket of dross does not a gaming platform make.

Its the fact that Mac addicts have a field day and enter a state of euphoria over horrible titles such as Dark CAstle, (a 2d adventure using like 3 colors). WAKE ME UP WHEN HALO COMES FOR THE MAC, until then i sleep.

halo is looking like m$ have got to it. doom3 is for me....and Unreal 2 (hey folks -looby infogrammes now - they STILL havent even vaguley commited themselves to a mac port..grrrr...)

p.s when i say PS2 i also speak for other heavy duty consoles like X-Box and Game Cube.

a quick point to the chap that wanted to make money from computing. Gaming IS teh way to go dude. pick up a copy of Edge magazine and look at teh job adverts. Computer games took more money last year than teh hollywood film industry.

I KNOW THAT THE PS2 hardware is outeaten by the MAC and PCS. AND AS I SAID BEFORE, PCS and CONSOLES TAKE THE MARKET CAKE, NOT MACS ....OK?? I never said the console is better than the PC. But the PC is better than the MAC for gaming.

NOW Blakespot, Broadband DSL heavy duty connections are comin to the PS2 next year. ALSO USB KEYBOARD w. MOUSE and an awesome SONY flatscreen just for the PS2. THAT WILL BE A VERY AWESOME GAMING MACHINE. the Ps2 harddrive to debut in 2002 Jan will have 40 GIGABYTES!!!!!! SO please, the only downside to PS2 gaming is the rsoluton of 640*480. Look at the sick mac dying with its Quake 3 and DOom and cheap waverace wannabees. I LOVE MAC DONT GET ME WRONG but we all have to face reality.

That is what I'm saying. If you buy a Mac for gaming is like to buy a Pontiac Firebird to go of road, it has a god transmission but it will not work unless you have the police behind you. There are cheaper (again), better, reliable, more efficient products to do the same thing.

Mac "can give you the option" but IT IS STUPID TO USE IT FOR THAT, you can put a surf board on the top of your Porsche but IT DOES NOT mean it was mean for that.

Mac can do the job for gaming.

Mac's aren't great gaming machines.

They rules for games that we have but not for the one Pc's and the Ps's have. Quake is one of the best game for the mac because it takes the processor to a new level. Sure I wish I hade some of the great games that the Pc has and yes I do call them Great games. I like Counter Strike, but does the mac have it? No. Could we use it? Yes.

MrMacman, <i>Giants: Citizen Kabudo</i> is considered one of the most impressive PC games right now. In porting it to the Mac, OmniGroup enhanced its codebase such that on their dual-533 G4 test machine, it runs faster than on any PC available, under OS X.

This does not paint the Mac as a machine with weak gaming potential.

Did the mac and Pc have a smae date release? NO. I haven't heard of any of my games faviorte PC games beging ported for the mac. Sure the games that come for the mac Rock the games that don't are also good.

I dont want everyone to think I am an AntiMac person cause im not but, over the years I have come to face reality. Back in 1995 when I got my performa 5200, I knew I would stick to mac forever. Just a few times too many, Mac has hurt my confidence.
