YaY! I'm still using 10.3.9 becuase Apple wasted it's Leopard time on the iPhone. YaY!!!!!!!!!! I get to wait even longer! I couldn't be happier!!!
I'm on 10.4.9, external speakers, and ac power. I get the pop / whoosh sound when the audio starts up after it has been idle for a while.I have a C2D MB as well. Since 10.4.10, I have this problem all the time. What it is is: Normally, on battery power, when you don't play any sounds for say, 30 seconds, power management kicks in and turns off the speakers / audio circuitry. When it turns back on, it makes a tiny pop sound.
For some reason, in 10.4.10, it is disabling the speakers/audio after 30 seconds or so, on AC POWER... when it should leave it on all the time. This means when my computer is plugged into my speakers, I hear a pop noise all the time when people send IMs, etc that are around 30 seconds or more apart.
ANNOYING. I don't know what to do about it other than leave music playing all the time. I guess its time to reformat and install 10.4.9![]()
Just installed it, works ok, but no visible difference. I guess I should read what the update was about.
Thanks, I was beginning to think I was going nuts. I remember that with 10.4.9 the volume in my MB increased (just one or two lines would suffice if I was in my room).
Now with 10.4.10 the max volume is the same. But 2 lines won't suffice, at least 6 lines are required to have the same volume as before.
I read nothing of a double restart however when I updated it did so, is this ok?
Yep... mine restarted and sat there for several minutes, and then restarted again and everything was ok.
My thumb drive's manual says that it must be designated as non-removable in order to work on XP (and I have verified that it doesn't work otherwise). This particular thumb drive is the only kind allowed where I work because of its particular encryption features (which I don't even use). When I pull it out without ejecting it, I get an error window warning me of possible data loss. To properly eject it, I count 6 clicks of the mouse.
To properly eject the same drive on my Mac is one mouse click and a single keystroke.
If it wasn't for the iPhone, Leopard would be out this month.
This update and one of the last two SecurityUpdates did that. You should be fine.I read nothing of a double restart however when I updated it did so, is this ok?
Does this mean new Powerbooks G5's on Tuesday?
I always install the combo just to make sure everything is covered. Others think it makes no difference. I do. Call it superstition or just plain old conservatism. I'd rather be safe than sorry something was overlooked due to a glitch in a previous update or a hidden correction in something from a previous version.Should I install the 'patch' or the 'combo'?

Except the Oxford Thesaurus and Dictionary...Same here. Panther-powered PowerBook leaves very little to be desired!

I was on 10.4.9 as well and my speakers would crack and go in and out during music and the aim sounds. I reformated my computer and just updated to 10.4.8 lol....no crackling at all, so I think im just gonna wait til Leopard comes out and see whats going on with that. Unless someone can confirm that the speakers problem is fixed in 10.4.10
Then my friend you must not have been around during the GREAT 10.2.8 UPDATE...
Apple released that update and then a lot of people were left with $1000-$3000 paper weights on their desks and laps. What was it folks, 2 days later???? that Apple released Ver 2 or 10.2.8 to fix the pulled update.
