So I have OS X 10.7.5 and I want to install Windows 7 as secondary OS. I already have USB installation media which works with PCs. However, Boot Camp assistant complains something about not finding installation media etc.

Question is, if I partition my hard drive, make one FAT32 partiton, start the installation from USB (if Macbook is able to do that) and install the OS as normal, format to ntfs during it etc. Will this cause OS X to become unbootable? I remember doing this on my MBP without problems but I am not sure.

any Mac that came with an optical drive you have to install windows from a DVD using a internal superdrive, even an external optical drive will not work
