Hey everybody--

When I got my Comcast Cable high speed internet installed at my house (Minneapolis suburbs) recently, the rep said that OS X.4 Tiger would not work.

As others have said, Comcast works fine with 10.4, and I would give back the modem they give you (save $5 a month) and buy your own. I use a Linksys personally, but any one will do. Just make sure it has an ethernet port. You can return the one they give you, and you'll have to call them up and give them the MAC (media access control) address of the new unit.

I agree with everyone else on broadband companies not supporting Macs.

Which is funny, because a lot of Comcast's commercials (the ones from like a year ago at least) always showed people using Macs.

Time Warner tried telling my friend this last year. Just unbelievable. I told her that was bull, and she still didn't believe me. (shes not computer literate at all!), not even after i told her I was using Road Runner on MY powerbook. So i went over to her place, and got it working for her. dumbasses.

always reminds me of... "the internet is broke!"

Thanks,

Greg,

I live in Minneapolis and I use Comcast Cable High Speed Internet and it works just fine with Tiger. Don't use the USB Connection that comes with the modem. That gave me trouble even on my pc. Most Cable modems from Comcast have both Ehternet and USB. Go out and buy a Ethernet cable and you will be all set.
