I have heard a lot of reports about bad RAM causing unstable systems running OS X. I have not had any success in determining which RAM type is to blame. I am looking to upgrade my sisters computer for X-Mas but am troubled by a few unanswered questions....

The question is besides Apple pre-installed RAM:
-Should I stay away from certain brands?
-Are there brands which are superior to others?
-What do you reccomend?

Thanks in advance.

I will be upgrading an iMac 333 currently running OS 9 with 96 megs (1x 32MB, 1x64MB).

i bought myself a piece of 512 megs of pc133 ibook ram ($200 CDN) from the local computer store about a week ago, and i took a look crucial.com, and it was $140US on crucial.com, so im saving about $25 CDN :)
remember to buy ram that was made specifically for the computer you have
