I kind of disagree on this. If you have quite a few things open, then with Expose the size will be adjusted so things are even smaller the more you have open so identifing stuff gets more difficult. With flip3D the size is fixed. You just roll the mouse wheel and you can do so quite quickly. You dont have to bring the item you want directly in front of you either. As long as it appears anywhere on the screen, you can click on it then. I dont know I guess I dont mind it. I never have that much open where I need to use it. I just look on the taskbar and click on the title to bring whatever I want up.

Vistas implementation is pitiful though.

Yer but Flip3D? Just something to try and make DirectX10 actual have a use. Flip3D isn't innovative or new. Hell there were applications before Vista which can do the same thing in XP!

thus why apple have implemented the two different types of expose. "all application" , and "one application". so you can only do it for certain windows. or you could use :apple: + TAB, or even :apple: + ~

ok i just found something cool....
Shift + F9 or
Shift + F10 or
Shift + F11

hahaha....

I switched from Windows to Mac this summer, and like almost everything in OSX better. I've even gotten used to non-maximized windows, which surprised the heck out of me.

The one thing I still much prefer is the Windows bottom bar that lists all the windows that are open. OSX's Dock, in comparison, seems cludgy. I want to be able to easily switch to another window (even one in the same program) without having to use expose and spend time searching through the windows to find the right one. Is there any way to do this in OSX, or 3rd party programs that would enable something like this?

Others have mentioned Exposé, so I'll add this:
Instead of using F9 or F10, you can set up the corners of your screen to do certain things. I find the corners very usefull; it allows me to go through all of my windows without a single click, all I need is a simple mouse gesture. To activate the corners, go to:
:apple:
System Preferences
Dashboard & Exposé
You'll see a mini screen with four selections. Choose the action you want for each corner. Hope you like it:)

yeah, I have my right corner set up for expose and love it. One quick move of the mouse and all my windows show. I find myself trying to do that on my windows work computer all the time

I did that too at times. Sometimes when I have to help my dad on his PC, I still take the mouse to the corner and expect to see all the windows. It takes me a second to realize that it's not my mbp:p

What would make Exposé even better would be some sort of "hotspot" idea so that when you hover over one of the scaled windows, it would expand a certain part of it.
So for example, if you hovered over a Pages window, the document part would expand to fill up the space.

I suppose it's not practical since you'd have to get developers to define the area themselves but if you have several instances of a program running, it might help.

I think Dashboards and docks are an area which can be developed further. At the moment they aren't as advanced as they could be. I think we need more options and customisation available.

Also, If you hold shift and minimize a window. . . kool! :D
oh wow very cool hahaha. hogs up cpu tho..

i think thats a pretty good idea actually.seems very practical for alot of users. maybe it could be developed so that it accommodates for actual workers and not just the looks haha?

yep totally agree here, the dock especially could be upgraded and play a better role in switching applications, and showing what applications are open at what times. expose is good, ,but as people have said wen u have too many open they get so small and hard to read.

There are actually other options available for the dock, but they aren't accessible without editing the plist file or using Onyx. They are:
- An additional minimise method ("Suck")
- Pinning the dock to the corner of the screen
- Dock at the top of the screen.
- plus more that I can't remember

- lock dock icons so they aren't constantly shifting around
- transparency turned off so you can see the icons clearly
- dock's background color changed for better visibility

- - - and more, and even more.
