I did a backup of my MBP yesterday before getting a new one today..
when i booted the new mbp, i failed to use migration assistant to copy files from my TM machine. so i restarted, booted via install disk and restored from TM.

question:
1. am i using my past installation of OS X?
2. what files did i missed from the OS X version that came with my new MBP?
3. should i have done it via migration assistant? if so, how do i do this again?
thanks!

cheers!

I'm pretty certain that the only kind of Time Machine restore you can do from the DVD is a full system restore.

So yes, you are running your previous system.

so should i do a fresh install and just migrate my old stuff? instead of having done the full system restore?
