Hi all,

I have a generic analog joystick that requires calibration. I'm trying to use it to play Descent 2 via D2X rebirth. The problem is, I can't find any way in OS X or in game to calibrate the joystick. That got me to wondering, how did we calibrate joysticks in OS X back then?

Thanks!

Beyond mapping some controllers in MAME, I can't remember ever needing to calibrate anything.

I take it that there's no option within Descent 2 to calibrate the joystick?

Have you tried any of the following?

Gamepad Companion
Controllermate
USB Overdrive

That's all I can think of.
Unfortunately, no. There's no option to calibrate the joystick in Descent. I have tried USB Overdrive. That and the other suggestions listed seem to allow mapping of buttons and axes to things but there's no option for calibration.

So I feel daft. My joystick has analog trim controls. That resolved the calibration issues. Unfortunately, OS X seems to have no concept of dead zones, so I can only keep it fully calibrated for a minute or two before it begins to drift again. Looks like I'll be playing D2X-Rebirth on modern Linux. :(
