Hey guys, I just took the plunge and updated to OS X Lion. Everything was going smoothly until I tried to import my Time Machine from Snow Leopard. Needless to say, it was my first time and I failed miserably.

The files moved from my external hard drive to my Macbook Pro in some folder called, "Volumes". Afterward, my macbook showed 160 GB of Space being taken up, but the files were unsearchable. So I unhid all the files, found the "Volumes" folder and deleted it. Afterwards, although the info tab for the hard drive says that it has less than 20 GB of consumed space, the Disk Utility still reports the 160GB number. Please help! Any ideas?

    I'm not sure I follow.

Would something like Grand Perspective help illustrate it?

    Have you emptied the Trash?

What do you mean by "tried to import my Time Machine"?? "Import" isn't generally an option in this situation. Do you mean restore?

What you should do is use Migration Assistant, and point it to the Time Machine backup. You shouldn't restore either; that would put SL back onto your boot drive.
