T TheRealDamager macrumors 65816 Aug 30, 2011 #3 Depends completely on your download speed. I think it took a couple of hours for me....

I've bit the bullet and am awaiting delivery of the expensively official Apple Lion USB stick. the way Apple's heading with this, all future revisions of both portable and desktop Macs will be tied to the internet for reinstalls etc. kinda sucks for those with dodgy connections, but there you have it. at least with an official usb stick, one can troubleshoot and also reinstall Lion across multiple machines. Click to expand... update to the above comment - I sent the official Apple Lion USB Media back because it will not work on a MB Air 2011 model. not Apple Tech Support nor anyone else could solve the issue - just the prohibitory sign at the grey screen on startup, irrespective of method used. 🙁
