I'm torn… it should improve some of what I hate in Lion, so that's good, but it's likely the end of all but the most-critical updates for Snow Leopard, which I'm not so happy about.

That's mountains for you though, lots of ups and downs.

So if I buy a built to order macbook pro today from apple, will it come pre installed with mountain lion when it ships?

My iMessaging (beta) on my Mac has been playing up all night, sometimes launching iChat - something is obviously being prep'd - Im in the UK so maybe midnight launch? :)

$19.99 for what?

Is that for the update from Lion or the whole thing? My father-in-law did not upgrade last time but thinks about this time. He has an iMac which would run it and MyFi 3G - so I have to plan moving it into town to suckle it from my 50MBit/sec cable - that will reduce package loss and a lot of headache and time.

20$ from SL or Lion. You don't need to go from SL to Lion first to get ML.

Still haven't figured a way to detect my iWork apps and convert them to Mac App store Apple? Lame.

Thanks. I think he has SL. I'll check that first (dunno how right now since I'm PC user, but I find my way through...)

PS: I would love to run Mac's OS but they don't support my hardware: 6 core AMD are not Hackintosh compatible. Neither is the Radeon HD 6790. What a shame. Well, I guess Windows 8 isn't too bad either...

Is this the first time they announced something like this during an earnings call?

"Apple followed a similar tactic last year, announcing at the start of its July earnings conference call that OS X Lion would launch the following day."

We are also really looking forward to the amazing new products we've got in the pipeline."

That definitely means a new iMac.... Either tomorrow or by the end of the year...
