Dumbification of OS

That's what it is - a dumbification. The only reason Apple chose this rout is because iOS does not have a user-exposed file system. Because of that they have to organize files by application. Obviously file system as such never goes away. As long as we have files they have to be organized in some system (even in iOS). They just deprived users of access to it offering instead a castrated way of organizing the files. Those who think that this is a good idea probably don't realize that if they really like it this way all they need to do with a regular file system is to save files from each application to a like-named folder. This is just one of the tons of ways how people can organize their files and that is all iCloud, iOS (and - in the near future - OS/X?) gives. Instead of dumbifying OS/X to iOS level, Apple should improve iOS by implementing proper file system.

Contrast that with today's news about Microsoft offering File Explorer like interface for their SkyDrive.

Is a new beta version of iWork required? I don't see the iCloud integration in ML with this version.

I'm having the same problem and I suspect it is because I installed iWork '09 from disk rather than via Mac App Store. I double checked this by going into the Mac App Store and looking at Pages and Numbers and sure enough they are still showing prices rather than saying "Installed".

I'd be interested to hear if you are in the same situation?

Thanks,
Craig.

Mine shows the price as well. In about Pages, I have 4.1 installed, same as the app store.

Does anybody have info on this?

iCloud and the inevitable knocking

Mountain Lion delivers exactly what multi device Mac users have been asking for -
(1) a better way of syncing between iCloud enabled programmes from a Mac than the 'Mobile Documents' folder - note: there is a local copy on your Mac, if you know where to look. It's all over the internet. Do some research, then post.
(2) there is already access to iCloud for third party programmes (e.g. Goodreader for pdfs). It's all over the internet. Do some research, then post.
(3) Reminders from the Mac - yeah to that

Can it replace iDisk? I hope so as I used iDisk significantly and it had become part of my work routine. I am trying to move across to iCloud now but I miss folders that permitted documents from different programmes (e.g. Pages, Numbers and pdfs) to be grouped together in the same folder.

I keep testing clusters and their KVM image files and I thought they get big but damn... 1TB.

Those are just the base images - the COW files for just one of them is almost another TB... :)

This is the part where you tell me that V:\ is a webdav drive mounted over the Internet. >.>

By the end of the year Apples bound to have iCloud functionality & flexibility greatly improved. I'm so glad I decided to skip over Lion. Mountain Lion, after a few revs will have a much higher level of usefulness. Apples headed in the right direction.
