Hi! I was just given a blue and white G3 tower (350 mhz, 640 MB RAM) from someone who was going to throw it out. Does anyone have any experience with OS X on such a system? I'm considering giving it a shot, but wanted to hear from someone who has such a setup before buying OS X. I am not expecting incredible performance, just a machine I can use for web browsing, Itunes, and some video playback. Thanks,

Paul Cole

PS- The machine only has a CD drive, so I would be trading the DVDs in with apple. I have also added an 80 GB hard drive I had around, so space is not a problem.

I run OS X Panther on a PowerMac G4 450 Mhz with 512 RAM. It doesn't scream, but it does surf the web and check mail.
Radeon 7000 + PCI Extreme = Screaming Power Mac

I'm serious, the video bottleneck is the biggest issue on these older machines. Just hack the PCI bus to it's maximum of 266 MB/s and the beachballs stop.
