Can anyone suggest a good tool for optical media emulation under OSX?

Under Windows I have always used Daemon Tools, but I'm looking for a similar tool under OSX so I can store and run my CD and DVD ISOs from an external hard drive.

The OS wont think its a disk, as sometimes needed...

it should... I haven't seen an instance where it wouldn't work. Oh wait, I think I remember Halo not liking the image I created. then again I might have encoded it wrong... some cds like to be hfs+ rather than cdfs

Depends. Some games aren't fooled by DiskImageMounter's mounted disc images, some are (works for Warcraft III for example). For the games/apps that aren't, mount it with Toast, I've never had that method fail.

Thanks for all the feedback and advice. I'll have to see if I can find Toast on Ebay for a little less than $80. 😀
