Hello, Forum

I just did a clean install of Mavericks on my mid-2010 15" MBP. A long standing issue that I've experienced since Lion returned right after the first boot -- the are persistent scroll bars in all applications, including Finder and Chrome. I've checked the General section in System Preferences and Scroll bars are set to hidden. Please advise.

Regards
Raptor

Do you have a mouse plugged in to the Mac? I've seen OS X do this if you have a mouse plugged in that it doesn't like.

Thank you, my friend. I was at work (no Magic Mouse here) and was tired of dragging around files via the trackpad so had plugged in a USB mouse. Unplugging it gave an instant resolution. Once again, thank you.

I'm glad I found someone else who has this issue. Except I do not have a USB mouse plugged in. I set System preferences to "Automatically show scroll bars based on mouse or trackpad". When I quit System preferences at open it back up, it switches back to "Always show scroll bar"! Annoying.

Any other ideas any one?

Maybe repair permissions and then try?

Thanks for the reply. Already tried that. No dice. Really don't want to do a clean install. Not a big deal but still really bugging me.

I should mention that I have plugged in a USB mouse in the past. But a long time ago. You think this has anything to do with it?

Anyone know of a tweak to completely disable the damn scroll bars completely? Or maybe even make them "non clickable" but still showing might be preferable for me..
