OS X shows wrong diskspace

I have a problem with my diskspace on my HD. OS X shows me that there are only 500 MB left, but even if I erase GB's of Movies, this value only changes for a few MB's.

Can anybody help me please?

Are you emptying the trash? Maybe your deleted stuff is still sitting in there, taking up space.

And if that doesn't work, try something like WhatSize to see if there's something eating drive space that you've forgotten to delete.
