OS X slowing down

Hi

Been using OSX know for about a year have 4Gb of memory both the internal hard drives are less then half full yet when i turn the G5 on the hard drives sound like the working like mad for about 5 mins.

i have used OnyX to do some house cleaning yet its still really slow anything i do?

with the finder specially just opening a folder can take over 10 seconds.

Is it fine once it has been running for a while? What sort of third party apps do you have running? Do you have any third party system hacks or theme changers installed? Do you have any third party hardware installed? If you create a new user account, is it slow there too? 🙂
