I have a run of the mill no brand USB camera I want to make work on my aluminum 2010 imac (it has night vision/IR that iSight doesn't). Does anyone know of an actual WORKING program for OS X that will run this camera? I tried to download a few things off google like macam, but that stuff doesn't work.

System Profiler says the camera is as follows:

USB20 Camera :

Product ID: 0x627b
Vendor ID: 0x0c45 (Sonix Technology Co., Ltd.)
Version: 1.00
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Location ID: 0xfa140000 / 5
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 500

I had a similar issue and eventually gave up. Bought a Logitech webcam that was specifically Mac-compatible.

The cam was a freebie and I don't have to use it at all, but figured it was worth a shot since I have it and it is new (operational).

Have you tried ManyCam? It's mostly for effects, but I'd give it a go to see if it recognizes your webcam. It's also free, so it can't hurt to try.
