I'm wondering if there are any recommended controllers/gamepads and software for using with OS9 and early OSX.

I've got an iMac G4 that is becoming my retro gaming machine, with SNES emulation in classic and early 2000s software like Return to Castle Wolfenstein in OSX. I'm running 9.2.2 and 10.3.9 on the iMac. On 10.3.9 I tried plugging in a corded Switch controller but while it was detected in OSX system profiler, Gamepad Companion wouldn't install. Meanwhile in 9.2.2 I tried USB Overdrive, which borked my mouse (a fairly basic wireless USB dongle Logitech) and the gamepad wasn't detected in profiler.

Any recommendations for a controller that would work in both environments? Super double bonus points for wireless (my G4 is an early model without bluetooth, tho I could probably find an adapter somewhere).

Great recommendation, I got two MacAlly iShock 1s for $20 shipped and both work great with my OS9 SNES emulator (quite enjoyed Aladdin).

Just wondering if anyone has tips for getting them working in OSX. Got a couple of FPS games (Return to Castle Wolf and No One Lives Forever) that I'd like to use them for if possible.

I had this question too, but I'm looking for a compatible game pad to use with Halo CE running under 10.5.8. I can run the Xbox version in emulation on my newer macs with a game pad, but it performs better running the native Mac app on my G5 rather than the emulation on my M1 Mac Mini.
