Although I have a number of G3 'Clamshell' iBooks, I must confess I've never got along with OS9.
I'm currently refurbishing a couple of 366MHz firewire models and found OS9.0.4 installed. One has the Norton Antivirus app and I'm ashamed to say I'm unsure how to uninstall an application from within OS9.
Is it as simple as dragging the folder to trash. (On later OSX machines I've always uninstalled an app using AppCleaner to ensure no artifacts remain behind).
There are other programes I'd like to get rid of, namely Norton Utilities 4.01, Microsoft Internet 4.5 and 5, and two folders named Kata Fonts, and Added Fonts. Can these be removed by simply dragging to trash?

Normally you need to launch the installer of the program and choose uninstall from a dropdown menu. That is best case scenario. Good luck!

Norton Utilities 4.0.X, there is an uninstall function in its 4.0 installer. You can download it here: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/norton-uilities-40x

To uninstall it:

-Double-click the Norton Utilities Installer icon, click through the installation screens, and select a Custom install.

-With the Custom Install dialog box active, hold down the Option key on your keyboard. The Uninstall Norton Utilities option appears.

-When you click uninstall, Norton Utilities removes its files from your system.

Then I would check the System Folder > Preferences, these items should be gone because I'm not sure if the uninstall function also deletes them: Norton Application Aliases folder, Norton Schedule File, and Norton Utilities Preferences folder.

For the Norton AntiVirus, you haven't specified what version you have. But if it's V6, the uninstall option is right there when you choose the install option in the installer, no need to press the Option key. You probably can find your version at the Macintoshgarden.

For Internet Explorer: Delete the program's folder in the Applications folder.
Then go to System Folder > Preferences and delete these items: Explorer folder, MS Internet Cache folder, Internet Preferences file.

By the way, OS 9.0.4 came with IE 4.5 as its default internet browser.

For the fonts, I would just delete them.

Some apps you can just drag to the trash and empty. Others might install an extension in the System Folder --> Extensions folder. So you might want to take a look in there. The clean way to remove an extension is to open the Extension Manager control panel (Apple menu --> Control Panels --> Extension manager) then uncheck the X. Finally, there might be a preferences file in System Folder --> Preferences. These are safe to delete manually.

Failing that, try and find the software on Macintoshgarden.org and see if there is an installer/uninstaller.
