Very sad news indeed.

Oscar was a true jazz great and innovator too. I loved him with his trio. Unfortunately I sold all of my Oscar Peterson records, together with the rest of my entire collection (I had too many bills to pay at that time), and haven't replaced them yet with CDs.

RIP Oscar.

This is really sad. Watching Oscar and his trio on TV as a child is where I first encountered jazz. He was a great musician.

Truly a sad day... my Great-Aunt met him early in his career when he performed at McMaster University (way back). She couldn't say enough good things about him as a person and loved his music. She introduced me to jazz and a lot of that was Oscar and the Trio... My thoughts are with his family, him going at any age is a sad day.
