OSX Alt+Tab alternate

In Windows, Alt+Tab usually brings you back to your desktop when playing a full screen game. What is the alternate in OS X? Just curious...

F11 will show your your desktop, in 10.4

This is mainly when playing WOW in full screen. I tried F11 and it didn't work. 🙁

Alt-tab to the Finder, and leave a Finder window open with your desktop directory.

When I am in a full screen app, hitting expose (show all windows - F9) fades the full screen application out and shows me the desktop, but then I need to click on an application to stay out of the full-screen app...
