I just got a software update alert and I tried to install it but I got this:

anyone know what I can do or has anyone else had this problem and solved it? thanks! 🙂

happened to me too. also formatted today and the problem is still the same.

2.4 Unibody MacBook Pro (with battery cover)
 
You didn't have Safari/Firefox open when running the updates? Repaired disk permissions in Disk Utility? Alternatively download and run the manual update.

rebooted the computer too. now im installing iLife... once it is done, i will try running all the updates again.
 
This was the first time I have had trouble with software update. I ended up just downloading it from apple website. Something wasn't quite right I guess, but it really was no trouble to work around.
