Hi,

I just bought a new MBP and was wondering if the osx installation disc and also iLife disc will be okay to use in my 2 year old MBP?

Legally? No. Your license is for the machine it shipped with only. Technically, maybe, depends whether Apple have locked it to MBP only or the specific revision of MBP is ships with.
