OSX makes "Pop" or "explosion" noise randomly, help

So i'm sitting here on my 2.4 iMac, running 10.5.5, and randomly, through the speakers my computer makes the same sound made when you remouve an item from the dock. That little Poof explosion sound. But totally random, It has done this for months, I just always though I was crazy, but today my speakers were turned up and I heard it loud and clear. WTF?

PLease help. I tried searching but no matter how I worded it it turned up nothing.

iChat or other instant message making sounds, people log-in or logout in those programs? Something like that? Check your programs you have running.

As I read your response I thought to myself, "Can't be iChat, i almost NEVER use it" And before I could finish my thought I looked down to my dock and the little light was on under it.

it is iChat

That sound made me crazy too 🙂 It does when a partner log in or log out in iChat !
