OSX not so snappy

Something runs during sleep? Other than the minimal code running to wake the system on an event, I'm surprised to hear that anything is running at that time.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. If the computer is sleeping, the scripts are supposed to run when the computer wakes. If the computer is off, the scripts will not run at boot.

Does it really work? I don't know. I do know that it is supposed to work this way.

ok guys so here's the situation...

I repaired permissions from utilities, and there's no difference in osx snappyness, I then tried to run terminal from a admin acount to the maintenance thing, but am unsure if anything has happened, all that came up is as follows:

"We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System
Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:

#1) Respect the privacy of others.
#2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility."

then it went back to the part when it displays your user name etc like it did at first.

is it finished yet, can i run this on any account, and can i do stuff while its running?

also, my girlfriend said her mbp was way faster than my mac for internet, even though adslguide speed test says my broadband is twice as fast

Any ideas guys?

Download and run Onxy for maintenance (do the cleaning and maintenance scripts and empty the caches).

After this, if it still does not return to form, you will likely have to back up all your data and reinstall OS X. I've had to do this to a system that somehow got corrupted and got slow and beach ball-ey. It will surely fix it.

It is a last resort, and you should search the forums for any other easier fixes.

Also, if you DO reinstall OS X, be sure to get an external or additional HD first and after you get the new system installed and all apps installed and all preferences installed, make a backup fresh system using SuperDuper and then you can simply dupe it over to your other HD if your system ever became sluggish again (every week or so redupe back and forth to keep your backup up to date).

512 MB should be considered a minimum--a proper starting point for running Mac OS X. I think you're a bit limited by what you can add to your machine, but 1 GB sticks aren't so expensive as they were a year ago. It would make a world of difference.

I think he meansOnyx. It's a nice little program, but make sure you know what you're doing with some of the options. The faq is actually pretty helpful, if you're not sure about some features.
