After switching to 10.2 on my dual-USB iBook, OSX takes an annoyingly long time to boot compared to booting OS 9. Since the new machines are OSX only, do they boot faster than before? ...God, I hope so since we lose the ability to boot 9 for all us pro audio users which have probably MORE $$$ in music hardware that either won't work in OSX yet, or is in beta stages.

I know Apple needs to "push" developers to OSX. It's just we're stradling the fence right now in the Pro Audio world. ...(It getting there though ;))....

On my 500 iBook it takes forever to boot. It also takes a damn long time to shut down. It really shows it's Unix base in that regard.

Both my G4 500 and PowerBook Ti500 are very quick to boot up in X, and take much longer in 9.

Perhaps a permission repair is in order?
