Hi All,

I am posting in the hope that some apple-dev / decision maker might make it's way to the MacRumours forum :)

It's a wish - that apple bundles a slick / simple / responsive web-mail client with their server app. will be a good addition and especially attractive for many businesses.

I know roundcube is available but it's not that great.

This is just a wish - what you think ? please do share your input - thanks

Kind regards
MHUMac

Web mail would be a nice feature addition, however I believe that Google Apps for Business holds most of the market share on something like this.

I would doubt that would ever be bundled in OS X Server. There's no reason to run your own mail server anymore.

If Apple really wanted to further its SMB and enterprise reach, it would open up the Apple ID / iCloud infrastructure a bit and create a competitor to Google Apps. They already have the bones; but if they allowed custom domains and extended account control to those domain admins, they could really corner Google in that space. Integrate that with OS X Server's OD and you've got a winner for SMBs.

The real answer is that Apple themselves don't really care about enterprise. They invite other companies to handle that for them -- ie., Google Apps, FileWave, etc. They've said so themselves. So I wouldn't expect to see any real innovation in the OS X Server space from Apple anytime soon.

I would love a remote printing option for OS X Server, something like HP ePrint except reliable.

They used to do just that, but removed it. It's rarely worth the hassle (security and spam problems) running ones own mail server.

I can recommend rainloop, easy PHP web client with sieve support and multi domain support so effectively you can also add your gmail or whatever account and it's easy to set up PHP and mysql DB

I can recommend AfterLogic WebMail Lite (or Pro) PHP working on OS X Server as a Webmail Client. Its nice and easy to install and configure too.
