I just sold my 2G 8GB for $280. eBay took $12 from the total. Paypal took around another $9.

I use the following to calculate paypal and ebay fees:

With no reserve and $1 starting your looking at the following:
ebay & paypal fees
Insertion Fee: $0.35
Final Value Fee: $17.77
Total eBay Fees: $18.12
PayPal Fee: $13.93
Total Fees: $32.05
Net Proceeds: $437.95
Then factor in shipping etc ....

I was outraged at my EBay bill after I sold a slew of things. I will be trying to find another sell-site soon. Absolutely absurd that I had to send them over $50 for a bunch of things sold. Ridiculous
you sold the original iphone 8gb for 280? that seems like a lot!
i was toying with the idea of selling my 16gb original and if i can get taht much for it...it seems like a no brainer
did you jailbreak it or unlock it? or plate it with platinum or something?
Dont forget, with Paypal, you dont get your money for up to 21 days afterwards as they consider phones as a high risk category, so they withold payment. (or until positive feedback, but buyer can still moan and you get reversed charged)

If you send with tracking or signature conformation they will release the funds within 3 days of delivery.
With ebay/paypal make sure you send ONLY to the confirmed address and you follow all directions.
Just recently I just had someone's payment bounce 3 weeks after I sent them the item. Since I had sent to the confirmed pay pal address and used signature confirmation (required for all transactions over $250) I "won" the dispute automatically.
