Other foreign items as Marked Thereon

Hi everyone I have a question. I recently purchased the macbook pro 2018 13 inch from best buy(Had recent surgery so wasn't able to open up the box yet) it came sealed, a brown box for added protection and inside that the macbook pro..I noticed on the side of the box where it says the serial # etc, it says
Assembled In China
Other foreign items as Marked Thereon
Does anyone know what that means just want to make sure there wasn't some sort of switcharoo and its not really brand new item..want to know before I go ahead and purchase applecare on it

If you care concerned you should contact Best Buy.

It should be in a new white box with the macbook pro name on it and a picture of the MBP. Not in a plain white box that means refurbishe.

All Macbook Pros are assembled in China, but Designed in California.

Also, try entering the serial number into the Apple's warranty check and makes sure it is covered.

Yeah the assembled in China thing I get..just didnt know what Other foreign items as Marked Thereon means

Don’t mean to insult your intelligence, but is it “thereon” that you’re stuck with?

The capitzaliation you described is all messed up, do you have a pic?

Oh Ok thank you I appreciate the info..just never heard of Other foreign items as Marked Thereon heck I even asked Apple chat and they had no clue LOL obviously I knew the macs are assembled in China but the Marked Thereon never heard of that

That is what it says..Marked Thereon even Apple has no clue what it means it was just something that stuck out I guess Im overly cautious

I would take a pic to be sure. Poor grammar is often a good marker. I’d expect Apple to have it right.

Im looking right at it..thats what it says..but it came from best buy this is how they ship it, a box in a box..its the brown box that says this not the actual macbook pro box

One definition of thereon is “on that. a text with a commentary”. In simple terms it just means that any foreign parts not made in China will be marked as such on that part :)

I don’t blame you and you can always do as Howard 2K suggests, but Best Buy is an authorized Apple reseller/partner. If you bought it on eBay or Amazon I would be a little more concerned

Here is the label from my wife’s 2016 MBP and it shipped straight from Apple...

Yes that is exactly what mine says and I just noticed on the back of the macbook pro itself(same like yours) it also says the same thing I didnt even notice it til now..Yeah Im just overly paranoid..if I see something and I have no clue what it means I want to know :) probably has something to do with the parts and where they come from..just honestly never heard of the work Thereon before thank you you set my mind at ease

Perfect!! Thank you..as I stated below, I just looked on the box of the macbook pro(When they ship it to you its a box in a box, I didnt think to check out the macbook pro box itself) and it says the same thing as the brown box at least now I have nothing to worry about :)

At least you got a shipping box. I got handed the MBP white box jammed into an overly small Apple handle bag. I was sure it was going to rip apart before I walked the 100 yards to my car.

But they did give me a 10% discount on the system and Applecare+, so I was OK with the small bag!

When you are purchasing a brand new macbook, since it contains a battery, they ship it sealed in a brown box..where on the side of the box it shows a clear marking about how it contains a battery..and on the side a sticker with the serial # and that info which confused me LOL. I am going to purchase applecare for this macbook..I purchased it on August 28th so I have til September 28th to see if any problems develop(Havent opened the box yet had recent hernia surgery so cant lift anything heavy) something like this I want to be extra protected in case something goes wrong..all this crackling speakers craziness has me overly cautious

Makes sense. Our SurfaceBook Pro came in a box with these markings.

Hope you feel better soon and start using the new system.

Yeah Ive read that some get their issue resolved with the update, while others still experience it..Mojave final is coming out September 24th..which would leave me 4 days from when the best buy warranty expires to see if everything works well..also going to buy applecare..I figure if anything ever goes wrong with applecare I would either get it fixed or replaced with a new one?
