"Other" now appears on login screen - but I haven't enabled the root user

Hi,

This is a bit odd: yesterday, when I went to log in to my Mac (10.6), I noticed that "Other" appeared in the place of the Guest account on the login screen. Having searched the forums, I gather that this option generally appears when one has enabled the root user. But I haven't. Should I be concerned? Anything I should do to ensure that the system is secure?
