Other than the image retention, are there any other negatives to the 2012 retina 15?

Sorry to post this redundant thread but the other threads are all over the place with information and clashing opinions.

Are there any other issues besides image retention on the 2012 retina 15" MBP?

— white spots (muras) on display
— yellow tint on replacement display

Those were just my problems with a 2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro.

Yes, it is one year old now... If you want to translate a computer age to a human being age, you need to multiply by 4...

Those are all problems that have occurred on some machines. Another one is lag, which might or might not be related to thermal paste issues -- some rMBPs have been reported running very hot, whereas others don't run particularly warm at all. The computer will throttle down and significantly affect performance if there are overheating issues.

On the other hand, there are plenty of rMBPs around that have never had any issues at all. If you're buying second-hand, check it out first. If you're buying new, you can return it for repair or replacement.
