Looking to get one. Disappointed by a Lifeproof reviews. Willing to wait. Anyone else?



Armor Series


OtterBox is pushing the boundaries of protection with the Armor Series. Waterproof, drop proof, dust proof and crush proof, the Armor Series is at the pinnacle of the protective case frontier. We initially announced the Armor Series as a waterproof iPhone 4/4S case. We’re excited to share the Armor Series will also be available for the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. On January 8, 2013 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas we will reveal tech specs, pricing and availability. I use to be an avid otterbox fan (still am in some ways). But they have really dropped the ball lately the quality of the defender case for the iPhone 5 is bad. At least they have amazing customer service.

I think they'll actually go to market with this one. Whether its any good or not remains to be seen.

That model is supposed to be released on the same day as the 5 and the SIII

Their CS is great. My wife has the Defender for the 5 and I like it. What problems are you seeing?

The clip is rubbing off the silicone(on the side of the case where it clips into the clip holster). Went through 2 different cases.
 
Wife doesn't use a clip either. I like my life proof case, but the rubber for the mute control is ripping.

I liked the Otterbox, and hope the Armor case doesn't look like the one in the YouTube video.

Which Youtube video? the old one, or the one they took kayaking?

On mine, there's a slight gouge next to one of the clips on the side where the holster attaches. But you kinda have to look for it (it's clean, so blends in easy since it's small) and only on one side. Hasn't gotten any bigger since the first week.

I tried 3 or 4 variations of the LifeProof Frē and gave up.

I'm hoping all the delays with the Armor mean that OtterBox is getting it right...
 
Just got my replacement Fr yesterday, darn near perfect. The launch day one sucked. Love love love this one.
 
otterbox not good at all i thought it would be good 1-2 weeks with it alot of dust, scrtaches on the case

I believe your talking about the Defender? I had one on my 4 and loved it, mostly. The two things I did t like were the scratches from dust/dirt/sand getting in, and the screen protector. I ended up punching mine out. Worked well for me like that. The case always protected my phone from the major things, which I why I want to go with them for a waterproof design.

Knew they were making the announcement today, but couldn't find anything on a time. I just googled "otterbox armor" and that media page was the 2nd thing to come up.

Still nothing really about it on otterbox's website though, other than the teaser page.

Yes, it's months old. I think it was before the last time they tried to release it then canned it until now.

Also, Otterbox themselves replied in the comments a few times, so it was hardly a mistake.
