Defender vs commuter

Personally I like the defender case a lot more then any other case otterbox has to offer, may be the bulkies of all but it protects the most, my 3GS looks same as when I first purchased it. However I've recently updated to the iPhone 4 in white which is 1.1mm thicker so everyone claims and the defender case is not an option so I'm stuck with the commuter case. The commuter case from what I've seen looks good and is less bulky but I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a holster, and it doesn't have a screen membrane build on the case for protection. Although I understand why there is no screen membrane I just don't like the idea much. Over all my defender case went thru a lot of rough handling not intentionally but it was worth the money because it protected my 3GS to the point that I've gotten enough money from my old phone to update for the new one. But I just don't feel as confident about the commuter otterbox case so I'm extremely causious.

The white iPhone 4 does physically fit into the 3 Defender case. The issue is the proximity sensor doesn't engage causing accidental button presses when on the phone.

Personally, while I like the Defender, I absolutely love the Griffin Survivor. Better case in my opinion despite it being slightly bulkier and having a mildly flawed camera flap. It has better protection and for me better usability. I hate the amazingly huge belt clip of the Otterbox and the really loose silicone. The Survivor doesn't have either of those problems.

I have the Impact case and I would highly suggest you DO NOT get it. I've had mine replaced twice already because it stretches so much. The sensors get blocked and the front camera takes photos with a colored ring around them.
