I just received an otterbox defender for my new iPhone 6S plus and I have to say that I'm a little disappointed with the screen gap issue. It's very evident and almost results in a tapping noise every time I touch the screen. I've put a glass screen protector underneath already but that hasn't offset the screen gap.

I've emailed Otterbox about it and they have been kind enough to offer to send me a replacement inner shell but I'm not sure how that will help.

Overall protection is excellent though.

Will post once i try the replacement.

I considered that too but I've read on a few forums that doing so causes dust to collect between the plastic shell and the rear side of the phone potentially making it susceptible to scratches.

I don't have the gap issue on my case at all. I was actually impressed this time. Otterbox has let me down the last cpl of years with the screen gap but this case is absolutely flush. Picked it up at bestbuy and it seemed to be a newer revision based on the box numbers compared the some of the cases towards the back of the rack.

I actually just got my 6s plus defender and I must say that the screen shield is flush no gap whatsoever. I took off my glass shield as well , overall it's great protection .

Thank you all for the replies. Can any of you post a picture of your box if you don't mind. I'd like to check if mine is the same or not.

Thank you in advance.

This is the case my otterbox defender came in. Those of you who have no problem with your case, cab you tell me if your case is similar or different?

Thank you.

Mine came in that same case. And I haven't had any problems at all. My screen is flush.
Also, have you tried squeezing the air out??

Thanks for the info.

I did squeeze the air out actually but like I said there's a definite gap between the protector and the iPhone screen. The tapping sound is so loud and annoying! Should get the replacement shell soon.

Did you get a replacement yet if so how is it doing

I had the same problem with my otter box that was for my iPhone 6 but I just got used to it.

I recently got a replacement on otterbox's site and when I got it it surprised me because there is no gap at all
I still have iP6 but have the 6S otterbox now.

If you still have the gap on the screen, i recommend you still keep the case because of its protection and because you'll get used to the gap anyway.

The only downside of keeping it is you'll probably have a lot of dust under the screen protector and its glue so keep it clean. Six months with the gap and i had to replace my case cause of too much dust

I did get a replacement but that too had the air gap issue. I didn't want to send it back and ask for a refund as otterbox had been kind enough to try and sort it out.

I ripped out the inbuilt screen guard and am now using it with a glass protector on.

I am going to check out the seidio obex next as it is water resistant too. The other case I considered was lifeproof but they are still at the "coming soon" stage.

I liked the seidio Obex case. Probably one of the better cases that I've had. But I returned it cause the screen scratched easily.
