I am debating on getting an otterbox defender. I remember that you need to put the phone in plastic casing before the rubber case. My question is for anyone who has it. Does the plastic scratch the bezel on the side of your X?

The venerable Defender is still the only case out there that I’d feel comfortable chucking my phone across a parking lot in. However, I’ve always had trouble with them scratching the phone inside the case. I bought and used the Defender for my Silver X, and sadly it did leave some small scratches on the silver band near the middle of the phone. So no more Defenders for me.

Another con is the thickness and “creakiness” of the case. It really is a big rubber chunk.

I switched to the Lifeproof Next case, which is better sealed against dust, and still feels very protective. The Otterbox Pursuit looks great too...and the Lifeproof Fré oughta be the bomb-when they release it.

I’d skip the Defender.

Thank you!

This is why I passed on using the Defender. I ordered 3 of them and just sold them on eBay as I was worried about the hard plastic scratching the sides of my phone. Try the Symmetry, nice soft rubber liner.
