I agree with everyone of these points. I could of not said it better. Otterbox dropped the ball on this one.:(

I have the gunmetal/white for my IP6 and yes the only real issue (for me) is the buttons are a bit stiff. I think its because 1) the buttons inside are a bit too far from the actual phone buttons, 2) the sleep button being on the right side and the larger width of the phone make its harder to one-hand press that button.

Since I used a xmas gift card and cannot return it I will keep and use it. Maybe otter box will address this in a future re-design as they did with the IP5. I wonder how the Supcase on amazon will work?

I had the otter for a mini, ip5 and 6.
The screen protector has a lot to be desired.
The overall design seems juvenile meaning it would be something parents would buy to protect their phone if their child was handling it.

In my opinion the defender is bulky and inatractive.
I am excited by previews of other cases coming out.

I think otterbox timed the deliver just right with an unexciting unattrctive product.

Otterbox did an iPad case with cutouts for the camera on the back if you put the cover on the back. It made the case rather awkward to deal with, and I hated it. They eventually got the clue and came out with a solid cover, leaving mental midgets to figure it out why their pictures are all black.

Every manufacturer makes a bad product, eventually. Otterbox redesigned the iPad case, and made it the best IMO...

Still waiting to actually feel the new 6+ Otterbox case before I buy a 6+.

I called Otterbox customer service to discuss the problems people are having. The first rep acknowledged the issues but could not confirm if or when an updated version would be produced. The 2nd rep acted like it was just a few complaints and not enough for Otterbox to necessarily do anything about. The iphone is a huge seller for Otterbox and I'm sure they care. Timing should also be a factor for them right now. Does anyone have a clue as to how long it might take for them to update their Defender?

I just got word (from a reliable source) that Otterbox is revising the Defender holster model. The new version should be out in approximately 2 weeks. I had a feeling that they were revamping this model because an AT&T rep told me yesterday that no additional Otterbox cases were being shipped out to the store, giving reason to believe that they are indeed bringing their product up to date.

That's promising if true. But to revamp the case I think would be more than 2 weeks.

Question/concern/input please from anyone who currently has the defender on their iPhone 6... Does your case lessen the experience? I just got my phone on Wednesday, my case arrived over a week ago (I have the Tuscan Sky defender series Otter Box) and the built in screen protector is my completely flush with the touchscreen of my phone. I can actually feel the screen protector as it clicks against my phone's screen, especially around the edges of the screen. This lessens the sensitivity while I'm trying to type/navigate and it is really really annoying since I have had to tap harder. I have had the defender series otter box on my iPhone 4, my iPhone 5, and now my iPhone 6 and this is the first time I have ever had this issue.
Also, the opening at the bottom for the charging cable is so much smaller than the opening was for my iPhone 5. I was able to use the Amazon brand lightening charging cable that has a slightly wider head, but not with this most recent case. The only charging cable that works is my apple brand one.

I have a 6 Plus and the Otterbox Defender.

First, I absolutely love everything about the updated case, including the new "doors" to the plugs. I love the physical feel of it.

The plastic screen cover sucks, it's not flush with the device. I called Otterbox, and they shipped a new case to me. The "mushiness" is still there, but it doesn't seem you need to press as hard as before.

Now that I have two plastic shells, I may experiment with the Zagg HDX.

What is the Zagg HDX?

I did call otter box and submitted a warranty form. I cringe that I'm going have to wait at least 15 business days before getting it "fixed" so they say.... I fear it's just a flaw in the design and I just wated my money choosing the wrong case.

Thank you for the reassurance that the replacement case may be better, though.

The iphone 6 plus version of the defender is way nicer than the 6. The port cutouts/covers are much more precise. The buttons are easier to press. Weird.

Zagg glass screen protector. Some Defebder users cut out the plastic cover, use the Zagg glass on the iPhone, then put the Defender sans plastic cover back on. Many success stories here in the forums.

It took eight calendar days for the replacement plastic shell to arrive.

Even if I do end up using the Zagg glass, there's no way I'm disappointed with the Defender. Like I said before, I absolutely love everything else about the Defender, especially the feel. Much better than what I had on the 4S, yet smaller. Looks are key for me, but since I'm tall, a drop would be higher than from average-height people, so drop protection is important to me.

I'm waiting for my defenders to arrive and I know people say there is a gap between the screen and the otter screen protector. What if you installed say a Zagg tempered or even an HDX and then put the defender with it's screen protector over that? would the thickness of the Zagg etc fill the gap ???

I don't know the answer to that. I might try it, but I'd like something a little cleaner rather than a plastic cover and a Zagg....it kind of defeats one of the purposes, losing clarity on the retina display. I don't know if the iPhone screen will be able to react with two items sandwiched on top.

I agree it's far from ideal but it will be similar to the lifeproof waterproof cases their screen protectors are monsters but you get used to it. My problem is I know I'll smash my Plus if I don't have the otterbox defender. my 5 barely survived and the 6 is far more susceptible to damage than the little 5. I wish I could get by with the little pansy Apple leather cases (I really like them!) but my phone would be road kill the first month

I never even heard of Lifeproof before I started looking for options for my 6 plus. I looked at what they had for the 5, and I thought they were butt-ugly. Defender is far from perfect, but it's pretty darn good, especially for the protection I look for. Defender also bulks up the phone nicely to fit into my hand. For the couple of weeks I had a naked 6 Plus, it was so thin I was afraid I was going to drop it.
