Out of box broken phones

Went to an Apple Store today, heard the Genius taking a customer iPhone 16 Pro phone that got bricked during initial setup while at the store. He said it was the fourth he alone received today but had other peers dealing with the same trouble. Those phones are going to Engineering to know more.

While mine had zero troubles, has anyone experienced this?

My software camera didn't work..Took it into Apple Store Lincoln Road today. They could simulate the problem. Discovered in diagnostics it occurred during initial load of system. Well of course they erased it and when tryint to load...all their servers went down. They lent me a crappy loaner. It has gone back to be diagnosed
