Switched from the XS to XR recently.
Noticed the screen is a bit worryingly dark outdoors or in sunlight. If I were using shades i wouldn't be able to tell if the screen is on/off
I have TT OFF and Auto brightness ON, and when outdoors the screen dials up to max brightness and even with that the screen appears dark/dimmed

is this a known problem/issue?

Apart from that XR is a marvelous phone and tremendous value for money.

I don’t have any issues reading my screen in bright sunlight with my polarized sunglasses on. Maybe the sunglasses actually help in this instance, I dunno...

Usually polarized sunglasses can make an iPhone screen look black in sunlight.

Also the screen will automatically dim if the phone gets over about 104°F, which can happen pretty quickly if the screen is in direct sunlight on a warm day.

It the was the Reduce White Point setting! I never changed the defaults.
Disabled it and the screen is now gorgeous in sunlight!

Thanks for the replies.

On another note but related to screen quality- I used the XS for 8+ months, and now a few days with the XR I can hardly notice any difference in screen quality. This has been discussed to tears and death here. I know.
