Hi there,

Looking to expand my home wifi to the patio and backyard. Going to be a long summer working from home.

Anyone have any recommendations on an extender or setup?

You don’t want an extender. You want to replace your router with a mesh network. Sounds daunting but it’s not. The benefit of mesh over an extender is that it does the same thing in a much better way with far better results.

We are very happy with our Google Nest Wi-Fi. Great mesh network and super simple to use. It's tripled our speed on the upper level of our home and it's doubled the signal strength. Got the 2-pack from Amazon and it’s been a game changer. Unless you have an unusually large backyard its plenty powerful to reach outside from inside the house.

Unifi wireless all the way. Work in IT and installed it it dozens of sites. Easy to setup and super reliable. And most of their APs work outdoors. Good luck!
