Mail is being a pain in the arse. I just set it up; incoming mail frim gmail does not seem to be a problem; however, when I hit send to send composed mail I keep getting a dialog box that say:

This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The sender address "myemail"@gmail.com was rejected by the server

What gives?

Thanks!

I on occasion get that message when I use my work wifi. Something about my work wifi firewall.

But if you are just setting up mail, I would check my outgoing mail server setting to make sure I had it set up right.

If your email address has those quotes in it, the server will reject it. Try myemail@gmail.com - without the "quotes" around myemail.

My email does not have those quotes...I put those there. I am new to the whole mail thing... so I really do not know what you mean by SMPT and "ports" ... anyone put it into laymen's terms? Like where do I click to see what I need to fix:eek:

I recently started having this same problem where my sent mail is being rejected from one of the accounts I have setup through apple mail. It's setup to use IMAP. I've tried every single thing i can think of, and it just won't let me send mail anymore. Very strange.

it could be a temporary issue with the gmail smtp server, but I highly recommend trying Gmail with IMAP!! It just might happen to fix this issue plus its really cool

Cool. I set it up and it seems to work. Only problem is that Mail keeps importing all of my mail over and over from my gmail account (and my other accounts that I have forwarded to gmail).

That is, after I delete the 100 or so messages from mail.. they keep on showing up in my Mail inbox again the next time I open it!!
