Until today, I've never had this problem with Outlook (2011 version).
    The error code is: 3176
    Error message:
Outlook cannot find server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the account settings, and that your DNS setting in the network pan of system preferences are correct.

All settings info is correct. So, I tried Mac mail and tried Entourage too. Same problem.

I am able to go online so I know my server is working.

    Anyone have suggests, advice, help?

    Oh, wow!
    • What kind of server?
    • Is it an Exchange Server?
    • If it is an Exchange Server, then which version is it? Is it Exchange 2007 or higher?
    • If so, then are you trying to access it from without the same domain or from an outside domain?

Your ISP's DNS servers, which resolve server names to IP addresses so
that your machine can connect, have given your Mac some bad information.

    Look into using namebench:

    http://code.google.com/p/namebench/

Enter new DNS in System Preferences > Network > Advanced tab > DNS
    Hope this helps!

It does sound like a name resolution problem. If you are trying to connect to the name of your server, try putting its IP in the settings instead.

Beyond that would need to know what you are trying to connect to i.e. Local Exchange, hosted Exchange, corporate Exchange via VPN etc. etc. etc.
