Hi, I'm new to Macs. I have a client with a 10 GB Outlook identity and he wanted to make it smaller so I archived 9500 items from inbox (now only 5000 items remain) and 5900 from sent (now only 4000 remain).

I thought this would make the identity smaller but even after reboot it still says 10 GBs. Is this by design?

Please let me know, thanks.

Hold the option key down when opening outlook to rebuild your database.

Thanks but I know how to rebuild an identity. My question is should the identity be smaller after archiving more than half the messages.

Afaik you need to rebuild it to reclaim the space created by dumping out to an archive, assuming the archive isn't local.

I no longer have access to this client's machine but I'll try that on the next one, thanks.
