I've been on the beta channel for MS Outlook for a while - the update pushed last night came with a surprise: a message that icloud mail was not supported with the "new" Outlook, but I could revert to "old" Outlook and use icloud mail.

Temporary issue or has MS made an announcement that icloud won't be supported in future builds?

Same here. It's not just limited to iCloud accounts. All my non Outlook/Gmail IMAP accounts are not being supported. I wonder if that covers all non exchange the accounts?

Wonder if it's because they're still working on it. I switched back because a fair number of basic features were not currently available in "the new outlook".

It's hard to imagine that they'd permanently limit account types on an app that's intended to be a one-stop shop for email. Microsoft just isn't Microsoft if its Office apps aren't trying to be all things to all users. I put my money on it being a temporary situation.

I haven't used Outlook in decades, although I occasionally see recent versions on other people's machines. I didn't like it much when I was using it, and I've seen nothing recently that suggests I'd like it more today. Still, there are huge numbers of users dependent upon Outlook. The disruption that would occur if only a limited number of mail providers was supported... No. Totally unthinkable. If I was still in corporate IT today (it's been several decades... about as long as it's been since I've used Outlook) and it looked like this would be a permanent situation?? I'd take a very long vacation so that I wouldn't be in the trenches when such a thing hit the fan.

Same here. My main gripe was lack of unified Inbox in "New" version. When MSFT finally brought it back it only supported Exchange accounts. That's why I stayed with the "Old" version. I doubt I'll switch back again.

Bumping this thread. They're been updating the "New Outlook," but I think it still doesn't support iCloud or IMAP. Can anyone confirm? Has anyone heard when it might?

iCloud and IMAP is coming, be patient;)
It still won't be worth using if it can't even support basic parts of the phone. Pretending that Outlook is a credible replacement for Mail.app (whatever Mail.app's problems) is just comical.
