I have a question for the experts.

My work utilizes an outlook web access server for email. This email can be easily added as an exchange to my iPhone, where I can send and receive emails without any issue. This email account does not seem to be accessible via iMail on my macbook pro using the same methods.

Has anyone been in this situation and found a way to overcome it?

Thanks!

I am able to access and sync my outlook exchange

e mail using mac mail just fine. Works very well. Calendar also. Don't know enough to help you set it up. Mine set up automatically. But it does work - that much I can say.

They may be using Exchange 2003 which is not compatible with the mail.app or any of the calendar or contact programs on the Mac.

I have to access Exchange for work e-mail, so I installed Microsoft Office, so I could use their Outlook email program.

IIRC, mobile devices use the ActiveSync protocol, which is different from the regular Exchange protocol that computers use.

Hotmail is an example of this. Mobile devices sync great when it's added as an Exchange server, but nobody's been able to get a computer to be able to do it.

I'd ask at your work if there are different settings for computers to use. As someone else mentioned, there is a minimum version of Exchange Server they need to be on for Mail.app to work.
