By the time you go through that ordeal multiple times, you'll have used 3 hours of your time anyways. Just get up early and go right when they open and get the new ID, it's going to save you hassle in the long run.
 
In Tennessee, the only difference between an under-21 and an over-21 license is that the under-21 license has a red border around your photo that says "UNDER 21 UNTIL mm/dd/yyyy". However, my ID expires exactly on my 21st birthday, so I'll be getting my over 21 license then.

Do your guys' states not have a website you can just order new IDs from? Here in az We just go to serviceArizona.com! When you turn 21 just order the new one and it'll come automatically over 21.
 
I never have any problems, even the dumbest clerk lets me pass as soon as they see "1937".
That would entail more math then they have fingers and toes..

What a terrible date for it to expire on. Either you renew it reasonably ahead of time but end up with another UNDER 21 license, or you have to be in the DMV on your birthday. o_O
