At least he isn't putting ads in the app to those who purchased it way back when. That's the first time he's done anything consumer friendly.

The question is whether he will lose interest and dump support

I was reading the page and noticed that he mentioned no support for VBR mp3, is there a particular reason podcasters aren't using AAC? Maybe podcasts are different but I have zero issues with ALAC and VBR AAC while skipping songs/radiotalks (and I have a few songs/radiotalks longer than 20 minutes).

If you purchased it previously you can go in and restore purchases and it will get rid of the ads.

I'm not paying $10 a year but managed to get rid of the ads by doing that.

Great shame. I loved the app but I've deleted it now and am trying Podbean.

I accept that app developers are entitled to make money and I would have handed over £3.99 without much thought.

But £8.99? Every year? Sorry, that's too much.
