once I start playing YouTube offline videos, I notice my iPhone 11 Pro Max starts to build up heat all of a sudden all corners of the phone gets hot including the back side,,,,, funny enough it doesn’t get hot once am on cellular or WiFi while surfing the net it’s very cool but once am playing a downloaded video like a movie it starts to build up,,,, am on iOS 26.2,,,, what can I do to fix this and is it a big deal I should be concerned about?

That phone is almost 7 years old. It will not be perfect with today's apps.

That said, does it only heat up when playing offline videos, or also when streaming videos over wifi/cellular? Try reducing the resolution. Also, have its battery checked, it could be in need of a replacement.

Well like I said it only do heat up when playing offline downloaded movies every other usage is quite normal…. Battery do last me close to a day and half so I can tell the battery is solid enough,,,,,, Am only concerned of the sudden heat building up while watching downloaded YouTube movies,,,, I don’t know if I should just ignore the heat and continue the movie if it could normalize or cause damage to my phone

First of all, update to the latest iOS version, there are lots of bugs that has been ironed out, especially when it comes to GUI performance. Not saying it will solve your particular problem but start there and see if it makes a difference.
Also make sure you are running the latest version of the youtube app.

Is it possible to scale down quality on the videos just as a test to see if that has any impact on the heat?

To be fair, you said "it doesn’t get hot once am on cellular or WiFi while surfing the net". You didn't specify if playing videos on youtube that are not offline (but streamed) also heats the device up or not.

That's a very important distinction: if youtube only heats up when playing offline downloaded movies (but not when streaming movies), then it may be a youtube bug with downloaded movies. If however it also heats up when playing streaming movies on youtube, then it's just youtube using a lot of resources (because of high resolution or whatever).

As long as it's not too warm to touch, don't sweat it, it will be fine. I'd still get the battery checked.

Well I literally said it doesn’t get hot while on cellular unlike when am mid way on an already downloaded movie then it starts to heat up gradually

You did not said that or I wouldn't have asked. But it doesn't matter.

The issue seems to be specific to the youtube app with downloaded movies on your iPhone model then, not much you can do.
