Overheating MacBook Pro 2013

My Macbook pro 2013 overheats. The hot application says that the CPU temperature is around 70 C and my battery is > 2000 cycles. Should this overheating be related to the battery?

Hard to say. Have you ever opened the laptop and cleaned out the dust? The battery has a temp sensor. What temp is the battery? Check Hot.

The battery's temperature is 35 C—that seems good, doesn't it? Regarding dust, I did not clean it before, but I changed the speakers at Apple a few years ago, and I expected that they would dust it. But I can give it a try and see if it is dusty.

I dusted it today (thanks), and it was incredibly dusty. It is cooler now than before.

Great result! Macs fan control is a great app. I used it to change when the fans would ramp up on my 2013 MBP.

You could also install Turbo Boost Switcher. Turning off Intel "Turbo Boost" will allow you laptop to run cooler as well.

You can also consider undervolting by a tiny amount.

70C is not overheating for an intel era mac. But yea, cleaning the dust out, particularly, dusting the fan and vents will help.

^ 70C is a bit high for idle temp. Idle should be around 42C to 48C depending on ambient temps. (Re-thermal pasting might also help, but I've never seen conclusive evidence that "re-thermal pasting" actually helps, so I would not recommend it as a go-to option).
